About ALE Co., Ltd.

ALE Co., Ltd. is a Tokyo-based space venture founded in 2011 by Dr. Lena Okajima, pioneering the world's first artificial meteor technology. The company's flagship project, SKY CANVAS, creates on-demand artificial shooting star events using small satellites that release specially designed 1 cm non-toxic particles from orbit at 60–80 km altitude, completely burning up without reaching the ground while visible across a ~200 km radius.

ALE has successfully launched two satellites: ALE-1 (68 kg, launched January 2019 on JAXA's Epsilon rocket) and ALE-2 (75 kg, launched December 2019 on Rocket Lab's Electron). The company developed these satellites in partnership with Tohoku University and coordinates with JAXA. A third satellite, ALE-3 (~200 kg), is planned for future launch.

Beyond entertainment, ALE uses the same infrastructure to collect valuable upper-atmosphere data during particle re-entry events, contributing to climate change research. The company also jointly developed an ElectroDynamic Tether (EDT) with JAXA for post-mission rapid satellite deorbit to prevent space debris.
