About Atomos Space

Atomos Space was founded in 2018 with the mission of making any orbit as accessible as low Earth orbit. Headquartered in a 20,000-square-foot rapid-manufacturing facility in Broomfield, Colorado, the company builds an in-space logistics network of space-resident Orbital Transfer Vehicles (OTVs), branded Quark, that provide 'Delta-V on Demand' to satellites and payloads. The Broomfield facility houses a custom cleanroom capable of building four spacecraft simultaneously, an extensive machine shop and additive-manufacturing lab, avionics assembly, environmental (thermal-vacuum) test, deployable-structure test and RPO propulsion test areas, along with 'The Void' — a purpose-built 50x20ft low-friction-floor rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) testbed with a precision motion-capture system used to test flight-like docking and capture dynamics with air-bearing-mounted vehicle twins.

Atomos' Quark OTVs are designed to perform cost-effective satellite life extension and end-of-life disposal, rapid inclination reduction, access to deep space from LEO and rideshare launches, and precise payload delivery and attachment, underpinned by scalable spacecraft rendezvous systems and in-space propulsion. The company was co-founded by CEO Vanessa Clark (an in-space propulsion and space nuclear power specialist) and COO William Kowalski, alongside a chief engineer with heritage on SpaceX's Cargo Dragon GNC/rendezvous design for NASA's COTS program. Atomos flew its Mission-1 demonstration, 'The Singing Astronomer,' launching the Quark-LITE and Gluon spacecraft to perform rendezvous, docking, refueling and orbital-transfer demonstrations, and has additional GEO missions manifested for 2025-2026.

In April 2025, Atomos Space was acquired by Katalyst Space Technologies (Flagstaff, Arizona), which continues to operate the Broomfield facility and the Quark vehicle line to serve commercial satellite operators and defense customers; key Atomos team members, including co-founder Vanessa Clark, joined Katalyst as part of the transaction.
