Charter Space

Charter Space is a California-based startup building financial and operational infrastructure for the space economy. Its flagship product, Ubik, is a program management operating system that helps spacecraft teams manage requirements, systems engineering models, manufacturing data, and mission lifecycle tracking — with integrations to tools like Jira, GitHub, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. Select teams at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory participated in beta testing. Charter was selected as a Top 5 finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield 2025.

On the insurance side, Charter launched the Charter Interplanetary Risk Corporation (CIRC) in February 2026 — a nationally-licensed insurance brokerage placing pre-launch, launch, in-orbit, and liability coverage for space companies, partnering with Munich Re, AXA XL, ASIC, and Price Forbes at Lloyd's. The company also acquired Plover Parametrics, a Y Combinator-backed parametric insurtech, to enable white-glove direct policy placement.

Charter's mission is to modernize space insurance underwriting — moving away from bespoke, manual processes to accommodate the growing volume of launches and novel spacecraft entering the market, and to financialize the space economy through software-driven risk solutions.
