D-Orbit

D-Orbit is an Italian space logistics company founded in 2011 in Como, specializing in in-space transportation, satellite deployment, and end-of-life spacecraft disposal services. The company pioneered the commercial orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) market with its ION Satellite Carrier platform.

ION Satellite Carrier is an autonomous in-space transport vehicle that rides as a secondary payload on a rideshare mission and then independently delivers customer satellites to precise target orbits using its own propulsion system. This capability eliminates the orbital constraint of traditional rideshare (all payloads land in one orbit) and provides unprecedented orbital flexibility — enabling direct delivery to multiple orbital planes in a single launch.

D-Orbit has completed over 20 ION missions to date, deploying satellites for customers including Amazon Project Kuiper, Spire Global, Satellogic, and ESA. The company also provides satellite disposal services that deorbit spacecraft using D-Orbit's DragEN deorbit device.

D-Orbit's technology roadmap includes increasingly capable OTV platforms and expanding into lunar logistics. The company completed a SPAC merger (Nasdaq: DOBT) and has raised over $200M in funding from investors including Seraphim Capital and the European Investment Fund.
