Hello Space's Istanbul satellite is a 5×5×5 cm PocketQube-class IoT gateway operating in Low Earth Orbit at approximately 500 km altitude. Launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare mission in May 2023, Istanbul serves as the first operational unit in Hello Space's planned PocketQube constellation, validating LoRaWAN IoT data relay capability from orbit.
The satellite provides LoRaWAN narrowband communications to IoT devices on the ground, bridging the connectivity gap across the 80% of Earth's surface not covered by terrestrial networks.
