Hongyan (CASIC)

Hongyan (红岩) is China's state-planned LEO broadband satellite constellation program, developed by CASIC (China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation). The Hongyan constellation is designed to deploy 320 satellites in LEO to provide global broadband internet and IoT connectivity — part of China's national strategy to establish domestic LEO broadband satellite internet capacity alongside CASC's Guowang (Starnet) constellation. CASIC is one of China's two major state aerospace defense corporations, responsible for tactical missiles, defense electronics, and the Hongyan communications satellite program. The Hongyan program represents China's entry into the competitive LEO broadband constellation market alongside Starlink, OneWeb, and Amazon Kuiper.
