IIT Madras (IITMSAT)

IITMSAT is a student satellite initiative from IIT Madras. The project aims to design and build a small satellite for launch into orbit. Its scientific goal is to study the energy spectrum of charged particles in the upper ionosphere and understand the effects of solar storms, lightning storms, and seismic activity. The project utilizes a unique particle detector design to measure the energies of particles with almost relativistic velocities. A future objective is to demonstrate the cost-effective development of a nano-satellite constellation capable of simultaneous particle measurements. The initiative fosters collaboration between IIT Madras, other universities, and ISRO in space research and technology development.
