Instituto Superior Tecnico

Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), part of the University of Lisbon, is Portugal's leading engineering, science, and technology school, founded in 1911. IST developed ISTSat-1, Portugal's first CubeSat, which was launched from the International Space Station in 2021 as part of ESA's Fly Your Satellite programme. The satellite demonstrated attitude determination and control technology, and its development was led by students under faculty supervision. IST also has active research groups in space systems, aeronautics, and robotics.
