About Interstel Technologies (COSMOS Project)

Interstel Technologies, Inc. is a spin-off company of the Hawaii Space Flight Laboratory (HSFL) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, formed to market and adapt the iCOSMOS software suite for specific and proprietary applications. COSMOS (Comprehensive Open-architecture Solution for Mission Operations Systems) was originally developed by HSFL to support the development and operations of small spacecraft, particularly for organizations with limited development and operations budgets such as universities.

COSMOS is a suite of software and hardware tools that enables operations teams to interface with spacecraft, ground control networks, payloads, and other customers to perform mission operations functions including mission planning and scheduling, contact operations, data management and analysis, simulations, ground network control, payload operations, and flight dynamics. The system is designed for seamless integration with heterogeneous nodal architectures, including satellites, unmanned air systems, and ground control stations.

The COSMOS Operations Research for Applications Laboratory (CORAL) was established in 2015 by the University of Hawaii at Manoa to continue development of the generic COSMOS framework, which Interstel Technologies now commercializes.
