KASA (Korea AeroSpace Administration)

The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA; 우주항공청) is the national space agency of South Korea, established on May 27, 2024, under the Ministry of Science and ICT. Headquartered in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, KASA was created to consolidate and strengthen South Korea's space activities — previously distributed across multiple government ministries and agencies — under a single dedicated authority.

KASA's mission encompasses the full spectrum of civil space activities: developing and operating launch vehicles and satellites, fostering a domestic space industry, advancing space science and exploration, and cultivating international partnerships. The agency oversees South Korea's flagship space initiatives including the Nuri (KSLV-II) rocket program and the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (Danuri) program.

South Korea's space ambitions include landing a lunar rover by 2032 and a Mars probe by 2045, developing reusable launch vehicles, and building a domestic GPS-like positioning system. KASA works closely with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and industry partners to develop next-generation launch vehicles and satellite systems, positioning South Korea as a major spacefaring nation.
