About KSAT (Kongsberg Satellite Services)

Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is a Norwegian satellite ground station network operator headquartered in Tromsø, Norway, with its flagship antenna field at Svalbard. As one of the world's largest independent ground station service providers, KSAT operates 26 antenna sites globally, offering telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) services; satellite data downlink; and relay communications for LEO, MEO, and GEO missions.

KSAT's polar ground station at Svalbard (SvalSat) is uniquely positioned near 78°N latitude, enabling the station to have contact with satellites in polar and sun-synchronous orbits on nearly every pass. This geographic advantage makes KSAT indispensable to Earth observation satellite operators worldwide, including major government agencies (NASA, ESA, JAXA) and commercial EO constellations requiring high data downlink rates.

Beyond core TT&C services, KSAT offers Lite Ground Network (LGN) services leveraging simplified, low-cost antenna nodes; relay satellite services via the IRIS and EDRS relay systems; and Arctic Broadband for high-latitude communications. Jointly owned by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and the Norwegian Space Agency (Andøya Space), KSAT combines commercial agility with deep roots in Norway's space heritage.
