About Laser Light Communications

Laser Light Communications is a McLean, Virginia-based company developing a next-generation global satellite communications network based on free-space optical (FSO) laser technology. The company is building a medium Earth orbit (MEO) constellation designed to deliver multi-terabit capacity across the globe using laser inter-satellite links and optical feeder links.

Unlike conventional RF satellite networks, Laser Light's architecture uses laser beams to transmit data between satellites and ground stations at extremely high data rates with inherent security advantages — laser beams are tightly focused, making interception far more difficult than radio waves. The network is designed to serve enterprise, government, and carrier customers with high-throughput, low-latency connectivity for applications ranging from undersea cable backhaul to airborne and maritime broadband.

Laser Light Communications has contracted satellite manufacturing and launch services for its constellation and is working to bring truly optical satellite communications to commercial scale — a major step beyond current hybrid optical/RF systems toward a fully photonic global network.
