Orbitfy

Orbitfy is the flagship edge-compute software platform built by Little Place Labs, a Houston-based space technology company focused on turning raw satellite data into actionable intelligence within minutes of capture. Rather than downlinking massive volumes of raw imagery to Earth for processing, Orbitfy runs directly on satellite payloads, combining low-SWaP (size, weight, and power) data preprocessing with onboard machine learning to filter, analyze, and prioritize information before transmission.

The platform is organized into modular components — including data preparation, edge inference, and insight delivery — that work together to compress the traditional satellite-to-decision timeline from hours or days down to as little as seven minutes. Orbitfy supports a range of sensing modalities, including optical RGB, multispectral, hyperspectral, thermal, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, giving customers flexibility across mission types.

Orbitfy has been demonstrated in orbit aboard Loft Orbital's YAM-6 satellite as part of a U.S. Air Force Phase II STTR effort to enhance maritime domain awareness, and has since been applied to additional use cases such as wildfire monitoring, land and infrastructure change detection, and finance and insurance intelligence. By moving compute to the edge, Little Place Labs aims to reduce satellite downlink costs, ease ground-segment bottlenecks, and give defense, commercial, and civil customers faster access to mission-critical insight.

Little Place Labs continues to expand Orbitfy's deployment footprint, with plans to fly the software on dozens of additional satellites in the coming years as it scales toward higher technology readiness levels and broader commercial adoption across the Earth observation market.
