Radian One is a planned single-stage-to-orbit, fully reusable spaceplane designed for rapid, on-demand access to Low Earth Orbit from compatible runways.
Description
Radian One is a next-generation spaceplane planned to be the world's first single-stage-to-orbit, truly reusable space vehicle operating in Low Earth Orbit. It is designed for rapid reflight with a 48-hour turnaround between flights and 90-minute on-demand capability, offering high flexibility for various LEO missions. The spaceplane features an industry-leading downmass capability and is designed for dual-use applications. Its operations are aircraft-like, with an airline-like ascent for a comfortable ride for passengers and cargo, and a revolutionary 2-mile-long rail sled system for takeoff, eliminating the constraints of vertical launch systems. Radian One's design ensures a smooth and controlled return to Earth, meeting stringent thermal and acceleration requirements while skillfully bleeding off speed, allowing re-entry anywhere in the world with a compatible runway. It is capable of multiple mission scenarios, such as quick resupply, longer duration scientific research, customized missions requiring human observers and operators, high cadence transport of personnel and cargo to and from public or private space stations, and on-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (payload recovery, inspection, servicing, refueling). It supports regular freight to and from LEO with a containerized cargo bay and 4,540 kg downmass of pressurized/unpressurized cargo, and rapid point-to-point cargo transport of anything under 2,270 kg anywhere on Earth in under an hour, as infrastructure supports. The distinctive winged design enables unprecedented mission possibilities in Low Earth Orbit, contributing to research and development, in-space manufacturing, Earth observation, and critically emerging missions such as rapid global delivery.
