About S7 Space
S7 Space was established in 2016 when S7 Airlines Group acquired the Sea Launch consortium, an international commercial space venture that operated a unique mobile sea-based launch platform.
The Sea Launch platform, the Ocean Odyssey launch vessel and the Sea Launch Commander support ship, allowed Zenit-3SL rockets to be launched from the equator in the Pacific Ocean, maximizing GTO payload capacity.
S7 Space planned to resume commercial launches and also announced plans to develop a new medium-class launch vehicle using liquid oxygen and methane propellants as a replacement for Sea Launch's Zenit rocket.
The company also participated in the Land Launch program using Zenit-3SLB rockets from Baikonur Cosmodrome for customers needing higher-inclination orbits.
