Sapienza University of Rome is one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1303. Its space activities are led by the GAUSS (Group of Astrodynamics for the Use of Space Systems) group within the School of Aerospace Engineering. GAUSS has developed and launched the UNISAT series of small satellites, starting with UNISAT-1 in 2000, making Sapienza a pioneer in university CubeSat development in Europe. The program has produced seven generations of satellites, each advancing capabilities in communications, Earth observation, and technology demonstration.
