Description
The SpaceSail satellite is Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology (SSST) standard platform for its Qianfan (Thousand Sails) LEO broadband mega-constellation. Planned as a 10,000+ satellite constellation, SpaceSail will provide global internet connectivity competing with Starlink and OneWeb. SSST launched 18 initial SpaceSail satellites in August 2024 on a Long March 6A rocket, with rapid deployment of the full constellation planned through the late 2020s.
