VisSidus Technologies

VisSidus Technologies, Inc. is a US aerospace company headquartered in Kihei, Hawaii, founded in 2014 by CEO Bogdan Udrea, a former Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University professor of aerospace engineering. The company specialises in the design, coordination, and control of satellite swarms — cooperative constellations of multiple small satellites working together to accomplish complex missions that would otherwise require a single large spacecraft. Operating under the philosophy "The Swarm is the Satellite", VisSidus develops distributed spacecraft architectures, swarm coordination and control software, and mission concepts enabling small satellites to jointly perform tasks impractical for individual large payloads.

VisSidus's technical heritage includes a NASA STTR-funded study (Smallsat Swarm Sparse Aperture SAR for Recon and Surveillance, 2018) that demonstrated the feasibility of coordinating a low-cardinality swarm of 12 small satellites to realise a distributed synthetic aperture radar (SAR) in low Earth orbit, with preliminary mission and spacecraft design work showing the swarm could support L-band SAR imaging with ground range resolution finer than 10 m and an eight-day revisit period.
