Choosing a CubeSat Deployer
- Form factor coverage. 1U-3U is universal; 6U/12U/16U support varies by vendor, and exotic sizes narrow the field quickly.
- Rails vs tabs. Classic rail deployers accept any spec-compliant CubeSat; tab-based systems (e.g. Exolaunch CarboNIX line for microsats) reduce shock but bind you to that vendor’s interface.
- Flight heritage on your rocket. A deployer already qualified on Falcon 9 or PSLV saves a qualification campaign and paperwork round.

What Drives the Price of a Separation System
- Diameter and load. An 8-inch ring for a 50 kg microsat and a 38.8-inch band for a tonne-class bus are different products entirely.
- Shock class. Pyrotechnic release is cheap and harsh; low-shock mechanical or SMA-based release costs more and protects optics and electronics.

For CubeSats on rideshare, the integrator supplies the dispenser and its price is inside your launch slot. What shock level should my satellite survive?
