The S940 is Aitech’s radiation-tolerant digital I/O board for spacecraft attitude determination and control system integration. It provides a comprehensive suite of digital interfaces specifically selected to support standard spacecraft sensors and actuators: 12 RS-422 output channels, 4 RS-422 input channels, 2 RS-232 UART ports, 3 H-bridge torque rod interfaces rated at 2A, and 2 opto-isolated discrete output drivers.
The board’s interface suite directly supports Space Integrated GPS/INS (SIGI) navigation sensors, torque rods, solar array drive electronics, reaction wheel assemblies, rotary switches, and UART-based payload devices — covering the majority of spacecraft ADCS peripheral interfaces in a single board. Triple-voted buffered memory is applied to serial interface data, providing single event upset mitigation in the communication data path.
Power consumption is less than 14 watts nominal at full I/O load, and the board interfaces via a 32-bit PCI 2.1 compliant CompactPCI bus at 33 MHz in a single-slot conduction-cooled 3U form factor.
