Space Pocket is presented as the world’s first sharing economy solution for sending test payloads into Earth orbit. It allows companies to send their products into space to research their behavior in the space environment, offering a unique marketing tool and a way to validate product performance in extreme conditions. The service is designed to make space access easier, with a typical preparation time of a few months. Aurora Propulsion Technologies manufactured both the engineering and flight models of the Space Pocket, in collaboration with Avaru Space for the design. The product has already flown into Earth orbit in spring 2022, carrying a piece of KONE’s revolutionary elevator hoisting rope, KONE UltraRope®, as a test payload.
