About
China Rocket Co. (中国火箭技术有限公司) is the commercial arm of CASC’s China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), offering the Jielong (Smart Dragon) series of small commercial solid-fuel launch vehicles. The Jielong-1 (CZ-11) and Jielong-3 vehicles target commercial small satellite launches at competitive price points, leveraging CALT’s heritage rocket manufacturing base.
Jielong-3 (launched 2022 from a sea-based platform) is China Rocket Co.’s most capable commercial offering, delivering approximately 1,500 kg to SSO from a maritime platform, enabling flexible azimuth selection not constrained by inland Chinese launch range safety zones. The all-solid design provides rapid launch preparation (days vs. weeks for liquid vehicles).
Jielong-1 (CZ-11) can carry approximately 700 kg to LEO or 350 kg to SSO and has achieved multiple successful launches. China Rocket Co. markets these vehicles to both domestic Chinese satellite operators and international commercial customers, often through the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) interface for foreign sales.
