About
CONTEC (trading as SSTJ — Space Systems Technology Japan or similar) is a Japanese company providing commercial nanosatellite bus manufacturing and integration services for the global CubeSat market. The company produces standardized 1U, 3U, 6U, and 12U CubeSat platforms with flight-proven avionics, power systems, attitude control, and communication subsystems.
Contec’s CubeSat buses are designed for integration of third-party payloads (cameras, sensors, communications experiments) while providing standard power rails, data interfaces, and pointing accuracy. The buses have been used for Earth observation, IoT communications, and technology demonstration missions, with a track record of missions launched on JAXA’s JAXA HIIA / H3 rockets and SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare missions.
Contec is part of Japan’s growing new-space manufacturing ecosystem, benefiting from JAXA’s support programs for domestic space startups and Japan’s space industry development policy. The company provides both full-service missions (end-to-end, including launch procurement and operations) and bus-only sales to customers with their own payload integration capabilities.
