About
CSEM develops ultra-stable continuous-wave and femtosecond laser sources for space science and precision metrology applications. The flagship application is the LISA satellite interferometer (ESA-NASA joint gravitational wave detection mission), for which CSEM has developed ultra-stable continuous-wave laser systems meeting the extreme phase stability and power requirements of long-baseline space interferometry.
The technology draws on CSEM’s deep expertise in photonic integrated circuits (PICs) on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) and other photonic platforms, providing high-speed optical modulation, phase shifting, and nonlinear photonic capabilities. Applications include gravitational wave detection, satellite laser ranging, atomic clocks, quantum sensing, and optical communications in space.
