Alpha Data’s Modified-Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (MCOTS) service allows customers to receive a product that fully meets their needs with minimum non-recurring engineering cost and risk by reusing existing products and designs. This flexibility enables clients to deploy their designs into the field or into space more quickly, safely, and affordably. MCOTS solutions offer risk reduction by leveraging proven products and decades of Xilinx design experience, along with commercial high-volume and military high-reliability design expertise. Cost reduction is achieved by migrating across form factors with universal architecture support and utilizing over 90% existing designs for significant NRE reduction. The service also ensures a faster time to market with available COTS hardware for immediate prototyping and comprehensive board support packages. The scope of MCOTS projects can range from simple component fit changes to custom form-factors and extreme ruggedization, making Alpha Data products adaptable to any environment, including aerospace and defense applications. Common modifications include DIP switch hard wiring, conformal coating, BGA underfill, integrated front I/O connectors, custom backplane connection orders, and enhanced thermal solutions. Alpha Data also provides custom solutions for data centers, including form factor changes, custom thermal solutions, and pre-installed optics.
