About
Digantara is an Indian space situational awareness (SSA) startup providing orbital intelligence services through a combination of in-space radar sensors and ground-based data fusion. The company’s approach differs from traditional ground-based radar networks (like LeoLabs) by placing sensors in orbit — a space-based radar that can track objects in LEO from inside LEO, providing much better sensitivity and coverage than ground-based radar for tracking small debris.
Digantara’s SCOT (Space Camera and Object Tracker) instrument, flying aboard commercial small satellite hosts, tracks nearby space objects using optical/radar sensors and reports their position to Digantara’s ground-based Space Weather and Object Tracking (SWOT) platform. SWOT fuses in-space observations with data from ground-based radars, telescope networks, and commercial TLE catalogs to produce high-accuracy conjunction screening and space traffic management data.
Founded in 2018 in Bengaluru, India, Digantara has received investment from Kalaari Capital and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) program. The company targets satellite operators, launch providers, insurance companies, and national space agencies as customers for its orbital intelligence services.
