About
EsferAtros is a Spanish new space company developing small satellite bus platforms for Earth observation and remote sensing missions. The company’s name combines ‘esfera’ (Spanish for sphere) and ‘astros’ (stars), reflecting its mission to develop compact, capable spacecraft (‘spherical’ in reliability and capability) for the space (‘astros’) sector.
EsferAtros develops commercial satellite platforms in the 10–100 kg class, targeting European and Latin American customers who need affordable Earth observation satellites for agriculture monitoring, environmental assessment, maritime surveillance, and territorial intelligence. The company applies agile manufacturing and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components to reduce satellite development timelines and costs compared to traditional aerospace procurement.
Spain has a growing commercial space ecosystem supported by Spain’s CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) and ESA’s ESAC (European Space Astronomy Centre) facilities in Madrid. EsferAtros participates in Spanish space agency programs and has access to European Structural Funds supporting space SMEs. The company targets the growing demand in Spanish-speaking countries for domestic or near-shore satellite manufacturing capabilities.
