About

Sateliot has opened Europe’s first 5G Satellite Development Center at its new Barcelona headquarters. This facility is dedicated to the development of Tritó, their next-generation satellite, and marks a significant step for the New Space sector as the first European facility focused on 3GPP-standard 5G satellites. The center includes a clean room for manufacturing, an operations room for constellation control, and two laboratories. The Tritó satellite, weighing approximately 150 kg and nearly four meters in design, offers a substantial leap in capacity, enabling IoT connectivity, mobile data, voice, and video, with dual-use capabilities for security and civil protection. The operations room is where the low-orbit constellation is controlled, with continuous monitoring of status, trajectory, communications, and performance, utilizing Flight Dynamics Systems and low-power electric propulsion for precise orbital adjustments. The Clean Room is where the next generation of satellites is manufactured, with rigorous integration and testing of all critical subsystems under strict safety protocols. The Tech Lab focuses on integration with operators, helping manufacturers and VAS developers create NTN applications and providing an open ecosystem for various Sateliot teams to test and validate core network functionalities and payloads.
