About
Nyx Earth is The Exploration Company’s cargo resupply spacecraft designed to deliver pressurized cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) and future commercial space stations in LEO. The German-French startup is developing Nyx as a modular spacecraft platform, with Nyx Earth as the first operational variant optimized for LEO cargo delivery.
Nyx Earth is designed to carry approximately 400 kg of pressurized cargo to the ISS in its capsule, with the spacecraft launched on a Falcon 9, Ariane 6, or compatible launch vehicle. The Exploration Company has secured a service contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for Nyx demonstration flights and is targeting its first in-orbit demonstration flight as part of ESA’s cargo delivery initiative to maintain European access to the ISS independent of NASA’s CRS program.
The Exploration Company raised €40 million in Series A funding in 2022 and has built its development and manufacturing facilities in Bordeaux, France. The vehicle uses a propulsive re-entry capsule for Earth return and is designed for eventual reuse with refurbishment.
