About
Exseed Space is an Indian commercial CubeSat company that developed ExseedSAT-1 — India’s first crowdfunded amateur radio satellite, launched as a rideshare payload on SpaceX Falcon 9 in December 2018. The mission demonstrated that a private Indian company could design, build, and launch a functional satellite, paving the way for India’s commercial space ecosystem before the formal liberalization of India’s space sector in 2020.
ExseedSAT-1 is a 1U CubeSat carrying an amateur radio transponder (1200 baud BPSK downlink on 437.455 MHz) that allows licensed amateur radio operators globally to establish communication links through the satellite. The satellite funded its development partially through crowdfunding from the Indian amateur radio and space enthusiast community.
Exseed Space subsequently developed ExseedSAT-2 and commercial CubeSat services for Indian academic and commercial customers. The company operates as one of India’s early-mover NewSpace companies, offering CubeSat design, manufacturing, and ground station services. India’s IN-SPACe framework (established 2021) now provides the regulatory structure within which Exseed Space and similar companies operate.
