About
The FGN-TUG-S01 is an Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV) developed by Fergani Space, designed for in-space maneuvers and satellite deployment. It is notable for its indigenous hybrid propulsion system, which achieved the world’s first in-space ignition of a hybrid rocket engine. This OTV was launched aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter-15 mission. During its mission, it successfully performed an orbit transition, moving from a circular orbit at 530 kilometers to an elliptical orbit with a peak altitude of 720 kilometers. The ignition operation of its main hybrid propulsion system lasted 35 seconds. Following the orbital transfer, FGN-TUG-S01 also successfully separated a CubeSat, FRG-10D1, into its target orbit. The vehicle’s design and production, including its flight computer, avionics systems, power distribution units, and thermal control infrastructure, were entirely developed in-house by Fergani Space engineers. This technology is a foundational step for Fergani Space’s future satellite constellation missions, including the planned Uluğ Bey Global Positioning System, aiming to deploy over 100 satellites.
