FSDK
Bright Ascension
FSDK (Flight Software Development Kit) is a unique, innovative development environment, designed to create mission-specific flight software using configurable and pre-validated components.
About
FSDK (Flight Software Development Kit) is Bright Ascension’s older version of flight software, now superseded by HELIX Flightkit. Despite being an older version, FSDK offers a robust framework for developing mission-specific flight software. Its central elements are software components, promoting reuse and allowing for limitless combinations of ready-made and bespoke software components, similar to building with blocks. This approach enables significantly faster and more reliable development of spacecraft flight software, suitable for single nano-satellites or large constellations.
Key benefits of FSDK include reduced time to market, as its component library covers most basic flight software functionality, allowing developers to focus on unique mission aspects. It also offers reduced risk due to heavily-tested, pre-validated components with extensive flight heritage. The component-based architecture supports unique missions by allowing quick and easy supplementation with new components. FSDK is scalable, adapting to new missions by swapping existing components without redesigning from scratch, even with hardware changes. It supports multiple hardware vendors, offering flexibility and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, FSDK is designed for ease of use, not requiring specialist skills, and includes a full year of support, maintenance, and training.
