About
GalaxySpace (银河航天, Yinhe Hangtian) is one of China’s leading commercial satellite companies, developing a LEO broadband internet satellite constellation using advanced millimeter-wave communication technology. GalaxySpace’s satellites use Q-band (37.5–42.5 GHz) and V-band (47.2–50.2 GHz) frequencies for feeder links and Ka-band for user terminals, enabling much higher data throughput per satellite than earlier Ku-band systems.
GalaxySpace launched its first demonstration satellite (Yinhe-1) in January 2020 as China’s first commercial Q/V-band low-orbit broadband satellite, validating the millimeter-wave technology in orbit. The satellite achieved over 10 Gbps downlink capacity in tests, demonstrating the potential for high-throughput LEO broadband. GalaxySpace plans a constellation of 1,000+ satellites in the 1,000–1,200 km altitude LEO band.
The company competes with SpaceX Starlink in the Chinese market while Starlink is blocked in China, positioning GalaxySpace as a key infrastructure provider for Chinese LEO broadband. GalaxySpace has raised several hundred million USD from Alibaba Group, state venture funds, and strategic investors.
