Solar Sail
Gama Space offers low-cost, reliable, and scalable solar sails designed for deep space access and various mission requirements.
About
Gama Space’s solar sails redefine deep space access by providing a low-cost, reliable, and scalable propulsion solution. These sails are designed to meet diverse mission requirements, leveraging continuous acceleration powered by sunlight. They enable exploration of distant regions like the Oort Cloud and persistent exploration of planets and moons within our solar system. Solar sails facilitate swarms of small, sail-powered probes for extensive data gathering without propellant constraints. They are also crucial for unlocking asteroid resources by enabling efficient missions to map near-Earth asteroids and identify valuable materials for mining and ISRU. Their precision orbit adjustment capabilities make them ideal for detailed surveys and future resource extraction. Additionally, solar sails can mitigate communication problems during solar conjunctions. The technology supports various research applications, including solar weather monitoring at Lagrange points and missions to Jupiter’s moons, significantly reducing costs by a factor of >10 and lowering the barrier to entry for diverse research communities. This also allows for more cost-effective visits to inner planets, especially Mercury, through outer planet flybys.
