The technology boasts higher data rates and lower cost-per-bit compared to traditional RF communications, primarily due to the narrower divergence of high-frequency optical/laser communication beams, which results in lower link losses. A key feature is the AI-powered data processing, exchange, and storage capabilities of the Data Hubs, which include sandboxing, virtual mission support, and the ability to run third-party software, including machine learning and deep learning algorithms, directly on the hub. Optical communication also bypasses the need for ITU frequency coordination and associated license fees, offering a more flexible and streamlined ‘plug-and-play’ solution.
