About
Infinity Space, operating under the OrbitalX brand, provides in-space logistics services using orbital transfer vehicles (OTVs) that act as ‘space tugs’ — collecting satellites launched on shared rideshare vehicles and delivering them individually to precise final orbital slots that may differ from the rideshare vehicle’s primary orbit.
The space logistics problem arises because cost-efficient rideshare launches (SpaceX Transporter, Rocket Lab Rideshare, ISRO PSLV) deliver all payloads to a single orbit. Constellation operators who need satellites at multiple orbital planes, altitudes, or inclinations must either launch multiple dedicated missions (expensive) or use an orbital transfer vehicle to redistribute payloads from the rideshare orbit to their specific constellation slots.
OrbitalX’s OTV uses efficient electric propulsion for orbit-changing maneuvers, accepting multiple satellite payloads at the rideshare orbit and delivering each to its target slot over days to weeks. This service enables small satellite operators to access precise orbital deployment at rideshare economics. Infinity Space / OrbitalX competes with Exolaunch’s Evolved Upper Stage, D-Orbit’s ION satellite carrier, and similar space logistics startups in a market expected to grow with constellation proliferation.
