About
iCOSMOS-Swarm is Interstel Technologies’ commercial satellite swarm cooperation and control platform, developed under NASA STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) Phase I and Phase II contracts. Built on the COSMOS Core foundation, it enables simulation, validation, and operational control of Earth-orbiting satellite swarms and constellations. The platform addresses the growing need for autonomous distributed coordination among multi-satellite systems — a challenge that traditional single-satellite ground control systems are not designed to handle. iCOSMOS-Swarm supports mission planning across the full swarm, cross-satellite tasking and scheduling, inter-satellite link management, distributed data handling, and anomaly detection and recovery across the constellation. The system has been validated for Earth-orbiting swarm operations under the NASA STTR program, demonstrating applicability to future NASA, DoD, and commercial multi-satellite constellation missions. It is directly applicable to LEO constellations for communications, Earth observation, and scientific missions requiring coordinated multi-point sensing. iCOSMOS-Swarm integrates with the iCOSMOS Tools Suite for operator-facing mission control and with COSMOS Core agents for autonomous onboard behavior. Interstel Technologies was founded by Dr. Trevor Sorensen (CEO), Eric Pilger (VP Technology), and Miguel Nunes (VP Engineering) as a University of Hawai’i spin-off in 2014.
