About
Lanzo Batteries develops high-energy lithium-ion battery cells and assembled battery packs for space applications, competing in the growing market for improved satellite energy storage as constellation operators seek to push more performance from smaller and lighter battery systems.
Conventional satellite battery packs use heritage space-qualified cells (such as GS Yuasa and Saft cells) with well-characterized degradation models and 10–20-year track records. Lanzo targets a niche between these conservative heritage cells and consumer Li-ion cells: higher specific energy than traditional space cells (targeting >200–250 Wh/kg vs. 100–150 Wh/kg for typical heritage cells) while providing the radiation tolerance, vibration qualification, and cycle life data that satellite operators require for mission assurance.
For small satellite constellation operators (who buy batteries in hundreds to thousands of units), cell-level specific energy improvements translate directly to satellite mass reduction or increased payload accommodation — significant economic value. Lanzo provides both individual cells for customer battery assembly and complete battery pack assemblies including cell monitoring electronics, protection circuits, and structural housing suitable for integration into smallsat platforms.
