About
The MAI-SES is a miniature Static Earth Sensor specifically designed for use in CubeSats, NanoSats, and larger spacecraft operating in Low Earth Orbit. It is engineered to be mounted inside a MAI-400 unit, though it can also function independently. The sensor incorporates four thermopile detectors that observe the Earth, Space, and Earth limb, enabling it to measure the dip angle relative to the horizon. To accurately determine the nadir vector within the body frame, two sensor heads must be mounted orthogonally. The MAI-SES is presented as a companion product to the MAI-400, which is responsible for providing comprehensive orbit attitude knowledge in both sunlight and umbra conditions.
