It includes an integrated protection system for safety and longevity of its lithium-ion cells, with over- and under-voltage, and over-current protection. This battery pack supports parallel coupling of two units for increased capacity and is equipped with cell balancing and monitoring. It utilizes 18650 lithium-ion cells with a nominal voltage of 28.8V, ensuring efficiency and reliability in a compact form. The BP8 100 Wh also provides accurate State of Charge (SOC) estimation and includes an autonomous/manual heater system for temperature regulation. It supports CAN and I²C communication using CubeSat Space Protocol (CSP) for telemetry and control, and features a two-stage battery pack passivation system for extended durability.
