About
The M2M Space System is a comprehensive solution for machine-to-machine communication, particularly in remote or underserved areas. It comprises ground satellite terminals and a space segment of small spacecraft operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The ground terminals are hardware and software packages that collect, store, and transmit information from connected devices via satellite communication channels. These terminals can either directly query monitored objects or serve as a base station for a ground sensor network. The collected data is then transmitted to the LEO satellite constellation. The system is designed for applications where traditional communication channels like GSM or Wi-Fi are unavailable, such as agricultural tasks, infrastructure monitoring, and cargo transportation tracking. The satellite segment is being deployed in stages, with two spacecraft already launched by OKB5. Currently, the system provides up to 8 communication sessions per day for objects that do not require real-time monitoring. Future expansion plans include launching two more satellites by 2025, adding an additional 40 satellites to the constellation by 2027 to reduce communication session waiting times to several hours, and achieving real-time sensor query capabilities by 2030.
