About
VEGA is a fully reusable, two-stage spaceplane developed by POLARIS Raumflugzeuge primarily as a hypersonic research and experimental testbed. In its secondary function it can be configured as a small-satellite launcher by adding an expendable upper stage.
POLARIS was awarded a contract by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the design of VEGA as a two-stage, horizontally launched, fully reusable hypersonic research vehicle. The agreement includes follow-on options for manufacturing and flight testing of the full-scale system.
