RSAP (Radiation-Effects Susceptibility Analysis & Prediction)

Machine-learning platform that predicts a chip design's susceptibility to cosmic-ray-induced failures before fabrication.

About

RSAP (Radiation-Effects Susceptibility Analysis & Prediction) is Lucid Circuit’s platform for evaluating how vulnerable a semiconductor design is to radiation-effects failures before it goes to fabrication. As semiconductor process nodes shrink to deliver higher performance and lower power, chips become increasingly susceptible to cosmic rays, which deposit pockets of energy inside electronic circuits and can cause critical system failures. Protecting against these effects has traditionally required specialized, costly design and test cycles, extended schedules, and multiple fabrication passes.

The RSAP Engine integrates with standard VLSI design flows, taking in the operational environment, design layout, semiconductor process, and functional description of a chip to run susceptibility analysis and resiliency prediction. By leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, and compute accelerators, RSAP automatically identifies which areas of a chip are vulnerable to cosmic-ray-induced faults, and its underlying susceptibility models are continuously refined through experimental validation. The goal is one-pass success for chip designers building resilient microelectronics for sensitive applications, reducing the cost, complexity, and delay associated with radiation-hardened design. RSAP is offered either through the Lucid Circuit RSAP Secure Cloud or as an on-site deployment.
