About

The AIRSAT SAR satellite platform is a small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite bus developed by AIRSAT Technology Group (中科卫星, initiated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Aerospace Information Research Institute). Its first two satellites, AIRSAT-01 and AIRSAT-02 (also designated Zhongke-01 and -02), launched aboard a Lijian-1 solid rocket in September 2024, carrying Ku-band SAR payloads with better-than-1-meter resolution. The platform’s SAR payload uses a novel unfolded cylindrical parabolic antenna, representing the first global application of this antenna architecture on an orbital SAR satellite, enabling a lightweight, compact stowed configuration for smallsat-class SAR missions.
