The Smotr Remote Sensing System is a satellite-based aerospace monitoring service operated by Gazprom Space Systems, designed for Earth observation with a focus on monitoring industrial infrastructure — primarily oil and gas facilities. The system provides satellite imagery for tracking the condition of pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities, and environmental monitoring across Russia’s vast energy infrastructure.
Smotr delivers high-resolution optical imagery for change detection, infrastructure inspection, and environmental monitoring. The service supports both Gazprom group internal requirements and external governmental and commercial clients requiring regular remote sensing data over Russian territory.
The system leverages GSS’s existing satellite infrastructure and ground segment capabilities to provide timely, repeat-pass coverage for critical asset monitoring and situational awareness.
