About
TheOrbiter is SpaceAble’s autonomous inspection nanosatellite designed for low Earth orbit, built on a GomSpace CubeSat platform. The satellite performs on-demand in-situ inspection of LEO assets — satellites, debris, and the surrounding space environment — collecting and cryptographically certifying data directly in orbit before transmitting to ground. This in-situ data certification approach, using AI and blockchain technology from SpaceAble’s ISSAN ground platform, provides satellite operators with tamper-proof evidence of their satellite’s physical and environmental status for use in insurance underwriting (in partnership with AXA XL), life extension assessments, and regulatory compliance. SpaceAble is a French startup founded in 2018 in Paris, specializing in Space Situational Awareness (SSA) for low Earth orbit. The company participates in ESA’s Distributed Space Weather Sensor System (D3S) project as part of a European industrial consortium building commercial LEO space weather data services. The ISSAN software platform provides the ground-based complement to TheOrbiter, integrating satellite tracking data, space weather monitoring, and space traffic management into a secured web-based interface.
