About
Spyder is UP Aerospace’s newer, higher-performance sub-orbital launch vehicle, designed to extend the company’s flight test and rapid-access capabilities beyond the SpaceLoft series. A single-stage vehicle roughly 17.25 inches in diameter, Spyder is built to reach hypersonic speeds in excess of Mach 10 and altitudes of up to 400 km, making it suitable for hypersonic flight test, sensor and materials research, and payload deployment and separation missions in a more demanding flight regime than the standard SpaceLoft platform. Developed with support from NASA, Spyder completed its maiden flight in June 2025, launching from UP Aerospace’s facilities at Spaceport America. The vehicle reflects the company’s ongoing push toward higher-speed, higher-altitude suborbital services as it also pursues development of a small orbital launch vehicle.
