The Space Technology and Astronomy Cell (STAC) at IIT Roorkee leads the institute’s student satellite development effort. STAC students design and build CubeSats and nanosatellites with missions in Earth observation, ionospheric research, and technology demonstration. The group also conducts ground station operations and participates in international competitions including CanSat and Spaceport America Cup. IIT Roorkee’s faculty conduct ISRO-funded research on GNSS signal processing, atmospheric studies, and remote sensing.
