Yangwang-1 Space Telescope

Yangwang-1 is Origin Space’s commercial optical and ultraviolet space telescope, recognized as China’s first optical space telescope in orbit. It launched on a Long March 2D rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center on June 11, 2021, sharing the ride with several other Chinese satellites. Carrying two coaxial telescopes (optical and ultraviolet), Yangwang-1 performs sky surveys, nighttime-light remote sensing (with sub-30-meter spatial resolution), atmospheric airglow observation, and detection/tracking of near-Earth asteroids and space objects as part of Origin Space’s broader Yangwang Constellation for space-resource research. In June 2022, Yangwang-1 completed the world’s first all-sky optical survey by a commercial telescope, and the Minor Planet Center awarded it the official space-observatory code C59.
