Thermal Intelligence Satellite Constellation
A satellite constellation with high-precision thermal infrared sensors delivering global surface temperature measurements with sub-Kelvin accuracy for defense, infrastructure, and sustainability applications.
Description
Constellr's core product is its growing constellation of satellites equipped with high-precision thermal infrared instruments, purpose-built to measure Earth's surface temperature at high accuracy and resolution. Unlike optical or radar imaging, thermal measurement reveals information about heat sources, activity levels, and operational status that is otherwise invisible.
Each satellite delivers absolute surface temperature accuracy of 1.0–1.5 K, temperature sensitivity (NETD) of 0.05–0.15 K, detector sensitivity better than 0.1 K, and a native ground resolution of 30 meters (27.3 m GSD from a 510 km orbit) — fine enough to distinguish individual buildings, assets, and infrastructure segments.
The constellation feeds a ground segment and analytics platform that processes raw thermal imagery into actionable intelligence products, enabling customers to detect hidden activity, track behavior over time across day-night cycles, verify operational status of assets, and identify emerging risks such as overheating or load imbalance before they become visible through other means. Applications span defense and intelligence, energy and industrial infrastructure monitoring, and climate/sustainability analytics.
